On my last keys trip there seemed few marinas on either side of the keys that could reliably accommodate my need for at least 5' of water. Does anyone have a list of such marinas?

you'll find that the ocean reef club can accomodate you at the north end of key largo, boot key harbor in marathon, little palm island & key west all will accomodate you without any trouble. if you go in to little palm island give the marks at the southern entrance a wide bearth as the shoals extend from shore quite a ways.

Ocean Reef Club does not accept transients last I checked, or supply slips to non-residents. Has this changed?

Big-boat transient slips in Marathon (Boot Key Harbor) are tough this time of year; Marathon Marina is about the only one. Burdines told us "nothing until May". Lots of deep draft slips over at the Sombrero Key facilities if you can get one, but it seems only with a seasonal reservation; if Dockside has a tenant they know will be away, might grab one that way. The mooring field is first come first served on a restaurant wait list type of basis.

Little Palm: make sure they can get you a space sheltered from the winds of the day, and call your investment banker to raise the requisite funds.

There are a few others in the mid Keys (Bonefish, Key Colony amongst others) and the recently reported upon by Pascal Hawks Cay, but I have no direct experience with them. Drawing 5 feet ourselves, I look forward to any additions or embellishments others may have. We are heading back up north on the East Coast the end of next week.

reporting from Marathon..

i found the water real skinny in the keys on saturday. the 54 i was delivering drew just under 5' but we kept stirring stuff almost all the way along the north shore of KL to Snake Creek, crawling at 5 or 6 kts... I know that northerly winds tend to push water out but sat. winds were SW around 10... i really didn't get it! It was very difficult to find a slip overnight, PYH had a flea market and still some contruction going on, Holliday Isle had a poker run and Mangrove Marina in Tavernier told us the wind was really pushing water out and the channel woudl be too shallow.

Plantation Yacht harbor can accommodate up to 5 1/2, i've been there many time with my 53.

George, what about Faro Blanco? I've been to both bay and ocean and i remember at least 5' to 6' although last time (bayside) the marina seemed in need of some TLC.
