Delta Coves, Bethel Island, Update

Old Sand Mound Slough will never be the same. Not quite my style (or my income bracket).

I have my misgivings about this project, but I am taking a "wait and see" attitude........

McMansions and a little open slip. Nooooooo thank you.

FB,
When I first started boating on the Delta with my kids in the early 90's, I gave Disco Bay a WIDE BERTH for safety reasons, and decided on planting myself at Bethel Harbor. Now it looks like I am going to have to move after all these years to get away from the new crowd of drunken boaters that will invariably come with the Coves.
Like our Harbor Master told me the other day, you had better enjoy the area this one last season, because it will never be the same. Guess that's what they call "progress".

Not to many places for you to move on to. But there may be some room left at Mayberry Slough. ;)

I have some pictures of Discovery Bay when it was under construction like these pictures of Delta Coves. I also remember see a sign above the tullies about where DB is now "water front lots $3200". I think it was in the early 1970's. This was before Hoffman entered the picture. In the early & mid 1960 Bethel Island was the happening & party place in the deltas.

I wouldn't be too worried yet. They are selling lots, not houses. In todays real estate market, those lots will move slowly and construction of homes even longer. But eventually, it will take on a Disco Bay flavor........I will consider moving closer to Stockton if I don't like the changes.

I used to berth at Anne & Chuck's on Bethel Island during the late 90's. That was a quiet little place much of the time. I remember dusk on Sandmound Slought and the first trips we took on the boat when the kids were younger. Anne & Chuck's got pretty busy during summer weekends though.

Bethel Harbor is fine marina. I hauled out there a couple of times when I started work on the boat. Almost moved the boat there around 2000 but I decided on Spindrift instead. The Delta Loop is about 25 minutes closer to where I live.
