I spoke with the Riverboat Marina management today and they said the Mokelumne River is overflowing into the parking lot near the Riverboat Restaurant and starting to flood the parking lot between the boat sheds. They said I would need waterproof boots to get to my boat today. I suspect the restroom is at risk of flooding and electricity at risk of failure.

They said their whole crew has been walking the docks regularly checking on the boats and all is well except for tree lost by the boatyard that hit boat on the hard, a truck and the restroom.

My concern this weekend is the robustness of the levees throughout the delta. High waters, heavy rains, water soaked ground and high winds all combine to present a real threat. If you get out in the area, please post on what you find.

Hope you all stay high and dry!!

Al, Everything was OK on the loop at high water this morning.

On the San Joaquin River side of the loop the water looked a few feet high with lots of levee to go. The ramp to Spindrift was nearly flat but not completely flat like earlier this winter. The water was a foot or so higher there yesterday.

Korth's and the Mokelumne River side of the loop: some additional riprap was dumped along the levee on the west side of Korth's. Some of the ramps to the Korth's sheds dipped under the water a little. Water is reaching the lawn area. During my drive-by the other marinas upriver to Perry's had high water but looked accessible by car.

Things are built a little lower on the Mokelumne side of the loop so it always looks to have higher water than the San Joaquin side. Camanche Dam and Pardee Reservoir (East Bay MUD) have been releasing water into the Mokelumne River all week to make room for more water inflow and will probably continue to do so over the weekend. That's whats causing high water on the Mokelumne. The rise is not that noticeable on the San Joaquin.

Higher flows on the San Joaquin also include releases from New Hogan Dam into the Calaveras River. New Hogan is making more storage room available as well.

I'll be out on the loop tomorrow as well but expect water levels to remain about the same or a little lower over the weekend.

Thanks for that update, yzer.

I just returned from flying in the Stockton and Modesto areas. On the way home to Sacramento, we were passing directly overhead, so I took these pics.

All in all, it looked a lot better than I had feared. As long as the levees hold...

Al,

Thanks for the pics, but you forgot to post the one of my boat sitting safe and comfortable in her slip (I hope)

Sorry Dave, but the boats in your section are so big my cameraphone couldn't capture them!!

36.5 ft deep under our Tolly at Riverview Marina. Usually about 8 ft. Parking lot is under some Condos and is a lake.

Dave, the place we ate at a couple of years ago .... parking lot underneath is also a lake.

Quite a site. Using our distance finding device, it is approx 700 feet across the Sacramento River. Anyone able to estimate the amount of water going past there? Or the speed these rivers are running at?

We have had some huge trees and logs pounding the Tolly and it is doing fine. Had another mommy duck sitting on our dinghy yesterday. If you missed it, we had a mommy deliver her brood last year, then proceeded to push them off the roof of the sun deck...into the cockpit. Last we saw there were four still alive and that was a few months ago. Never a dull moment.
