Need I say more?

I disagree Yzer. I think we all need to say a whole lot more.

Check out below and see where the November 2006 workshop was held.

November 8, 2006 Delta Vision Workshop

The Water Education Foundation held its first Delta Vision Workshop November 8 in Los Angeles at the MWD of Southern California headquarters. It was co-sponsored by the California Resources Agency and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation Mid-Pacific Region.

That just really rips me up to see that Los Angeles is providing us with a vision of what "OUR DELTA" should be. Another meeting was held in Fresno. Our beloved Governor listens to these people.

By looking over the list you provided of the group of people putting on these workshops it scares me to death.

Edward G. "Jerry" Gladbach, Castaic Lake Water Agengy. Gee, I wonder what kind of vision he has in mind????

Another thing that made me laugh is that these "vision workshops" are working to craft a vision of the Delta 100 years from today. This was taken right off their website. We won't have a delta in 100 years.

This was on "KCBS" news this morning.

State Fish and Wildlife Grants Delta Fish New Protections

Now we have the longfin smelt under protection. This will further lower pumping to our beloved neighbors to the south. It could be a very interesting meeting to attend in March.

We all need to stay informed on these issues! Yzer, getting snippy over a detail such as the correct name of an agency does nothing to help and may discourage others with valuable information from posting. A kind correction of info is all that is needed........

Ok, yzer, so I "mixed the title of the sponsoring agency. DWR http://www.water.ca.gov/ does list the "water plan" as "their" document on their web site. I quote: "The California Water Plan provides a framework for water managers, legislators, and the public to consider options and make decisions regarding California’s water future. The Plan, which is updated every five years, presents basic data and information on California’s water resources including water supply evaluations and assessments of agricultural, urban, and environmental water uses to quantify the gap between water supplies and uses. The Plan also identifies and evaluates existing and proposed statewide demand management and water supply augmentation programs and projects to address the State’s water needs."

The meat, as you do point out, however, is that the future of the Delta is heavily influenced by the consumptive water user groups, i.e. SoCal. However, this is the obne time I actually am for the environmental interests sitting at the table as they will generally oppose increased pumping and diversions from the Delta. Please correct me, if I am wrong, as I do not have the time (or energy) to read every article about the Delta I ever come across.

I offer my apologies if I seemed overcritical.

There are plenty of SOCAL water users out there masquerading as Delta restoration groups. My scepticism in this area sometimes boarders on the paranoid. I was concerned that the Water Education Foundation group was attempting to impersonate the California Department of Water Resources or imply some sort of direct affiliation.

I see now that this workshop is linked to the state by a co-sponsorship with California Water Plan.

Again, my apologies and assurance to gengiant that my first reply ws not aimed at you.

It isn't my intention to frighten people away from this forum. In fact, I've refrained from posting any topics regarding Delta POD or related water issues for the past couple of months and intend to keep this policy.

As for the Water Foundation Delta Vision Workshop: Thanks for posting the info. Sometimes you have to play the game even if some of the cards are marked. I read through the workshop notes from July. I'll see on Monday if I can get off work on the 7th to attend. The more that SF Bay/Delta boaters participate in this workshop, the better the results.

Great! We all need to stay together as "one voice" to help our poor, beleaguered Delta. Hopefully these type of postings will keep us all informed of information and action we all can take. I'm thrilled, yzer, that you may be able to attend the the conference and look forward to your report afterwards.

SAVE THE DELTA!
