Good morning and thanks for the help.

Looking to head up to Kingston with about 5-7 other boats. The trip will be at the end of July and we will be staying a couple of days. We will be coming from the south shore of Long Island. I am looking for some information as to where would be the best place to stay in Kingston (pool and close to town), where to stop off on the way up and any recommendations as where we should visit along the way.

Thanks again.

Rondout Yacht Basin is the best place. They have a pool, picnic areas, a small café and are a short dink ride to town.

We also enjoy taking a dink ride down the creek to the waterfall.

The river is well marked, just make sure you pay attention to the buoys. The lighthouse a few miles south of the entrance to the creek is pretty far out into the river, make sure to keep it on your port side.

Probably best place to stop overnight is Haverstraw Marina.

Yes RYB is a great location.
As for the rest of the trip it depends if you are bringing kids and what you want to do. Options vary widely and include but are not limited to : Liberty Landing, Haverstraw. Minecionga (sp?), Mills Norrie and more. From Liberty Landing you can do Ellis Island, Science museum, Statue of liberty, and NY City sites easily by ferry. If kids some places you may want to go with a cheap rental car or taxi along the way include: Renaissance Fair (Haverstraw), Duchess county fair (Mills or RYB), Rhinebeck airdrome, zip lining, water tubing and maybe even the caves upstate (bit of a ride from RYB).
This has always been a great trip for us and we make it longer and do something different each time.

Hope this helps

RYB is the place, we may be there for July 4th.
