The "reverse polarity" issues has been a big one among some users of Honda EU2000i portable generators. Many have mentioned the reason this happens is because the portable generator has no ground.
There is a ground screw on the generator. Would the boat's bonding system act as an earth ground? If I were to run a wire from the generator's ground screw and connect it to the bonding strip in the engine compartment, would I eliminate the reverse polarity light?
If so, perhaps we are closer to eliminating this problem for people with portable gens.
