dredging / gilgo

So i red in the paper that dredging needs to be done to prevent gilgo from flooding ??

What are they talking about ....

What are we dredging .... they didnt say sand replenishment ... they said dredging....

Anyone havea clue...

........They probably need to dredge out all the beer bottles in the marina....its raising up the water level to flood stage.

When they dredge FI inlet they put the sand on Gilgo normally. I assume that's what they mean.

I know jones Needs it bad....

Did anyone ever answer the question about if army corp says certain locations need to get dredged every 4 years ... wheres that money go if its not done ?? I would think since jones and rockaway havent been done in 10 years ... there'd be truck loads of money to do the project.... right... Can we get special investigator for that ....

FI inlet isn't as bad as Jones, but it's due to be dredged also. The water in the channel is a few feet shallower in spots than it normally is. At one point I think they were dredging FI every 2-3 years, but it hasn't been done in a while.

I read that the Corps says that dredging should be done every four years but they also don't take responsibility for doing it. That falls to the local governments unless the feds can justify some heavy commercial use and then they allocate funds for it. I think there was something further in Newsday recently about funding for Jones.
