Ok, so I got a Chaparral 2004 204ssi with a Volvo Penta 5.0 gxi 270 HP with SX drive and I am curious as to what aspects of the Drive service recommended by the local mechanic is actually required?
For example, my friend is willing to help me change the oil/lube in the drive for FREE and on the other hand the local mechanic wants to charge $254.00 for:
1. Oil/Lube Change & pressure test
2. U-joint and gimbal Service or iterm housing greased.
3. Inspect Transom Hoses & bellows
4. Check Engine Alignment & Torque Gimbal Ring
5. Flush & Refill reservor bottle.
Was wondering which aspects of the "Drive Service" is actually REALLY needed every season and will just changing the oil/lube suffice?
