Guys with the summer heat and power issues. I urge everyone to check the condition of their power chords ( both ends ) and the dockside outlets. If the voltage at your panel is near 100 volts use power sparingly. The only damage done will be to your equipment.

Good lookin out pal.....and new cords aint cheap......

What do you mean near 100 volts? Shouldn't it read bw 110 and 120?

IT should but in this heat wave LIPA may cut back on power or the marina might not have adequate power for everyone to be down using everything on their boats at once. So when it gets this hot its good to be fwd thinking and take precautions.

All good advice, but the voltage to the volt meter on your boat is the voltage that is most important. It also can tell you the condition of your cords, connection points and wiring from the main panel to the dock outlet. For instance if you have 115 volts at the dock and 105 volts at the meter on your boat, you probably have a corrosion issue of some kind. If you have 115 volts on your boat and turn on your a/c and then read 105 volts, you have a different problem but one that needs to be addressed also. Either one will ruin your equipment before it's time.
