After 20 years of larger boats we are trying smaller boating. We are looking for a place to sleep between boating days. The Ship Inn in Chesapeake City looks nice but booked for this weekend. Is anyone familiar with the hotels or motels around Elkton or North East? We keep the boat at Triton on the Elk. We could boat to the Sasafarass, anyone familiar with Kitty Night House?

I'm in the same boat as you, so to speak, down to trailer boat only. While I've never stayed at kitty knight house, I've certainly been to the bar many times, and friends that have stayed there had no complaints. This summer Im hoping for a weekend there, one at the hotel at great oaks, kent narrows, and maybe Baltimore. While there are hotels on rt 40 in Elkton, and a holiday inn in Northeast, nothing I know of on the water besides chesapeake city until sassafras or further south. There's always camping at the state park, elk neck, which is very close to triton.

Chuck,
OK, now you're in my waters. As alk said, the Kitty Knight House is fine. Its an old boarding house but not at all dingy. More historic. I believe Chesapeake City has more B&B's than just Ships Inn. If you chose Great Oak you can stay in their hotel. Chestertown has a HI Express and a Quality Inn as well as some B&B's and is within 20 minute drive of the Sassafras, Great Oak and Rock Hall as well as being on the Chester River. Let me know if you need more specific info.
