I posted an earlier topic labeled "engine and drive shot" To recap that post, I have a 1987 Searay 268 with a merc 454 and Alpha 1. At the end of the season the drive gears gave out (possibly from hitting something in the water. I pulled the boat and found water in the cylinders. I winterized as best as I could and now I am at this point.
I received a lot of good feedback from you great people. I also took some of your advice. I checked the oil and there were no signs of water in it. I then shot some oil into the cylinders and turned the crank by hand.
I then checked the compression cold. I was afraid to start the engine just yet.
Here is what I found when checking compression while the engine was cold.

1-130PSI
3-90
5-90
7-130
2-130
4-130
6-90
8-90

Should I try to start the engine to get it warm and re-check?
I always thought that when two adjacent cylinders are low it meant a possible blown head gasket, but in this case it is on both sides of the block.
Any help will surely be appreciated.
