Since my engine overtemp my starboard engine has been running 10 degrees higher than port. Is this cause for concern? Port at 140, Starboard at 150.

The sending units and the guages are not that close, looks ok to me.

That seems a little on the cold side on both of them. If they are fresh water cooled they would normally utilize a 160-165 thermostat and should run that range.

I have twin Volvo 5.0 GXI. I noticed that my starboard engine is usually 10-15 degrees warmer than the port. I have a friend with twin mercs that has the same temp difference between engines. As long as it stays within the safe zone, I do not worry about it.

take the sending unit wire from one engine and run it over to the other motor, see if the temp difference moves with it or stays with the motor. if it moves, you have a problem with the gauge or electrical connections to the gauge, if not either the sender is bad, the electric connection to the sender or the engine temps really are different. if the temps are actually off by 10 degrees there is a problem in the cooling system somewhere that needs attention. its either one or the other and each can be frustrating to find, but it is a good idea to run it down and fix it before you have bigger trouble.

Thanks much to all. Glad we continue to have great responses on this forum.
