engine...RV antifreeze

Dexcool turns to mud if slightly neglected or air gets in. Mainly air gets in via leaky intake manifolds. There are numerious articles on the web about Dexcool problems and class action lawsuits. Almost impossible to flush out once you have the Dexcool mud. Many people just have flushed out the system really well and have gone back to the old green AF. Others really keep an eye on it.

If I bought a boat with Dexcool I would immediately swap it to the old green stuff or G-05. No wonder GM stock is nearing $0.00.

http://www.valvoline.com/pages/products/product_detail.asp?product=11 Zerex DEX-COOL is GM approved for use in GM vehicles produced beginning in 1996. This formula also meets many of the European manufacturers’ phosphate-free and Asian manufacturers’ silicate-free requirements.

For convenience and protection try Zerex DEX-COOL Ready To Use. Zerex DEX-COOL Ready To Use combines the excellent temperature and corrosion protection of Zerex DEX-COOL with de-mineralized water to help reduce the risk of cooling system deposits. The 50/50 mixture provides protection down to -34°F.

I know there are many companies selling DexCool products, but there are a lot of people who have mud in their cooling systems due to DexCool. Look at BOBISTHEOILGUY under Cooling and you will see many horror stories. True mostly on cars. DexCool works fine as long as no air gets into the system, but in many cases there were gaskets in GM engines that leaked when used with DexCool, when the gaskets leaked it let in air and then the mud started to form.

Peak Global would also be another good choice as its a non 2-EH antifreeze. Most other long life universal antifreezes are Dex-clones (except Amsoil).
