I'm at that point that I'm starting to put together the equipment list for our upcoming boat trip. I don't know why I have to re-create this list every year. Does anyone have a supply/equipment list that you use when loading your boat for a trip? 1)Clothing 2) food 3) boat stuff 4) toiletries etc etc.

I don't want to forget the laundry soap, etc etc.

Thanks in advance.

Lists don't seem to work for me. I have a carry-on sized bag that will keep me set for a week. It's always packed with toiletries, spare batteries of various sizes, binos and a big flashlight. I just add the clothes. The camera bag is always ready to go. I keep another bag: that's an old canvas money bag (significantly) that the Admiral calls my "purse" but I think of as the skipper's bag. I keep it in the car when it's not on the boat. That bag is always packed and ready to go with duplicate nautical charts, tide charts, maps, survival knife, pocket butane torch, extra boat keys, reading glasses, sunglasses, 12V adapter for cell phone, etc.

Except for food, ice, and drinks, just about everything else is already on the boat.

The other necessities are two tool and mainenance supply boxes. These also serve as ballast to trim the boat. Sometimes we take the laptop style LCD TV/DVD along with some reading material.

My boat is small enough, I have to unload it. It reduces the weight and fuel burn when I'm fishing.

I have a special spot at my house for "boat stuff". Anything which comes home and needs to go back to the boat as well as anything which which is extra or unusual goes to that area. I put foods and other kitchen stuff I need to take in the ice chest until the day I'm leaving. All perishable groceries are grouped together in the fridg and freezer. This system works pretty well for me. But I know I keep way too much "stuff" on my boat!

Boat use definitely affects how the boat is loaded. I seldom travel more than 15 miles from the marina burning about 4 1/2 GPH at displacement speed. That's about as good as it gets with an old 250" straight 6. Still, fuel isn't a major issue.
