Can anyone give me some heads up info on the Fairlee Creek entrance? I have a feeling we'll appreciate hearing about other's experiences there.
Thanks

Was just there this past weekend. Just follow the buoys in. You will be a bit disconcerted being so close to the sand bar on the way in, but at low tide I still had 6 feet under me about 20 feet from the bar. The actual entry into the creek is narrow and at low or high tide you will definitely notice the current. I was looking at about 1+ foot rip waves it was running so fast coming in. I just stay as close to the center as possible and go for it. If you are running against the tide, just throttle through. On the way out, coincidentally, it was a strong outgoing tide. I don't like that as well because the outgoing tide wants to push you beyond the channel quickly. Again, just look at what the current is doing and adjust with throttles and rudder.

There is a constant parade of boats coming in and out. You'll likely be following someone - just observe what is happening to them. At slack tide, you'll wonder what all the fuss was about.

Go for it, it is not a big problem. I've seen an 85' Hatt make it without any problems.

Easter,

I forgot to mention that the place gets unbelievably crowded. Late Saturday afternoon, it got so crowded and it had so many clowns dropping anchors with their boats opposite every other anchored boat then swinging into others that we left. No kidding, I was rafted up with someone and this guy comes in - drops his anchor about 20 feet off my bow then within 5 minutes, I was holding him off with my boat hook while he moved. Duh!!!! My recommendation if you aren't really proficient and aren't going to stay with your boat is to go further in and towards the southern side of the creek. That way you'll be out of the madness to be close to the entrance. It's a blast to get near the entrance to watch the endless boat parade and to hear the live music out of Jellyfish Joels. Thus the anchoring madness. Just a heads-up.

Thanks for the replies and especially the pictures, can't wait to get there, heard it's a great place. And as for anchoring with idiots, there's just too many other good places to go, and it's usually just a little bit further up the creek.
