We're heading down from Philly to meet family in Fairlee Creek (Great Oak) on the weekend of the July 4th. I know that area is pretty remote. Are there fireworks anywhere around the creek? Is it work staying there for the 4th?
Thanks,
Keith

Fairlee remote?? Not really. You can count on having a LOT of company in Fairlee if the weather is nice. I know there will be fireworks all around the Bay (Baltimore, Rock Hall, Georgetown to name a few) but not certain what you'll see from Fairlee. Certainly we have others here who have been in Fairlee Creek for July 4th.

Mike,
Thanks. I just want to make sure it's not empty since there may be no fireworks. Not quite sure if you remember me. A year or two ago we were both in China and I emailed you from Kunshan.

The trolley to Rock Hall may be running from there and Rock Hall FW are usually pretty good, but the trip afterwards back might take awhile. Great Oak is usually packed over the 4th. Our club will be just over the knoll at Haven Harbor in Rock Hall. We do Fairlee the week before.
Safe trip. Follow someone into Fairlee if you have never been there. Easy but can fool you.

We have been there before. It is a nice tight turn going in. Appreciate the info about the 4th.

"empty" on a holiday weekend you will be sharing Fairlee with hundreds of your new found boatiung friends.

Keith,
I do recall our emails. China was a great experience but home is soooooooooo much better!

I guess I am qualified to answer this one since I keep My boat there. They do have fireworks on the 4th of July but I am not sure what night , I will find out this weekend and let you know, If you do go, get there early cause it will be packed and they block off the premiun anchorage areas along the beach do to the fireworks and the potential for ashes landing on boats.(by order of the fire marshal). The bands will be playing all weekend and the go fast boats come in and out constanly so if you want quiet you should head to the far end of the marina and anchor back in the creek. If you get there late this will be your only option. If your getting a slip the marina has some nice facilities and as mentioned you could take the trolly to Rock Hall for dinner(20 min ride). When entering the creek pay attention for boats leaving cause they are most likely not paying attention to you entering and there is alot of activety going on right as you enter. Once you have entered the creek watch out for all the dingys running between the anchorage area and the marina. The marine police will be out in force all weekend. We choose to just stay in our slip this weekend do to activeties. I have counted over 400 boats in the harbor on holidays

King: I deliver to Chesap. Marine at Fairlee, and he ordered alot of paint. Said it is going to be a busy time there this yr. Lots coming back to enjoy their boats. (124 gal)

Dusty..

Somehow the words "paint" "boat" and "enjoy" don't seem to fit in the same thought! ;)
BTW, how ya feeling?

All,
Thanks for the great information. I'm looking forward to it. I just booked a slip in the marina.
Mike,
You're right. Home was sooo much better. Eating gray stuff just didn't agree with me.

There will be fireworks right at Fairlee Creek on Sat July 4. Last year year they were shooting off the southe side of the sand spit. Godd show with great visibility fron the docks, anchored boats, and the beach. Hopefully this year weather will be better.

I believe Great Oak Landing sponsors the fireworks.

We will be arriving at Fairlee on Fri July 3rs and have a slip at Great Oak for the month of July. Nice base for trips around Middle Bay.
