An internet aquaintance who recently revamped a Harley 43 like mine with arneson surface drives took a 600 mile boat trip with freinds this month and on returning he let a buddy steer for a while and went below - two others were reading the charts and a bit of confusion caused them to hit a sandbar with about 6-inches of water over it at 30 mph (this is upper West Coast so it was sand). SLAM- STOP - HIGH AND DRY.
Coasties coulnt help since they were in no danger. No tugs around who could assist. Water level dropped further and they were stuck for 24 hours until a Sherrif with a jet drive showed up and they slowly ran the jet boat on a leash and pushed aside sand for three hours to create a valley to back into until they floated.
Only damage was a depthometer puck -NICE
Try that with inboards or I/Os.
