I just got 6 fender line adjusters at the NY Boat Show. The demo guy made it look so easy to use and I liked the fact that I could store at least 2 fenders horizontal along the bow rails. This will save me from buying the expensive fender baskets that I was going to purchase. I keep 5 fenders in my transom locker, so this will free up at least 2.
He said that 12 feet of line is the normal to cover the fender length, stopper knots and to allow to hang way low vertically along a floating dock. I actually have 2 of my fenders reserved for that purpose and raft-ups with no stopper knots mid length so I can hang vertically. My other 2, I use horizontal with stopper knots on each side of the fender. The 5th one I use for the swim platform if I need to be close to the dock. This may be overkill but I always seem to use them especially on a raft-up.
