Going on right now. Sounds like a big one on Sandmound. Two story home fully engulfed. Requesting four water units and two alarms so far. Apparently, no one inside, but they've ordered a breathing unit to respond as well. They are fighting it from the water and land.

I hope everyone involved is okay.

It's located on Sandmound between Mariner and Cypress. Single family home. Contained at this time.

I remember being at the delta about 15 years ago in October when the wind was really blowing and a nasty fire started in some dry grass a swept through a mobile home park near Korth's on the loop.. Lots of trailers lost, propane exploding. We were at Moore's Riverboat for lunch and didn't like the looks of it and where it was going so grabbed our hats took off. No one killed.....one broken leg I heard

Yeah, there isn't much more scary than a fire that is out of control.

It is amazing that this one didn't take out the neighboring homes. In that area, the homes are older and close to each other. The lots are deep, but not very wide, plus a lot of the homeowners make additions to their houses that may or may not have been done with the proper permits.

We'll probably see this one on the news or at least in the newspaper.
