Fireworks?

Well Walshie, looks like I have to work saturday was looking forward to that beer you offered me, may head up sunday solo if i do i will say hi to you and Dan & Deb . Have a good trip upstream to you and the family . Jon

Well caught a little fireworks show last night by bull line heading tward croton , was looking for the Penny Bridge gang and got Hogan on the raido but they were in bull line ,missed em again.
Was gonna head over to you guys but was real misty and foggy last night , I almost nailed that unlit marker on the east side while putting along ,it apeared out of nowhere almost ( just when i think i know my own backyard ,Huh ) guess it just goes to show ,ya can't take stuff for granted out there when it's hard to see.(today the lightning made me bolt back to the ramp , that stuff scares me big time)

Hope you guys enjoyed the show ,looked like you must have had a great spot for it , was nice talking to you last night Hogan.
take it easy ,Jon

Unfortunately, the power plant almost completely blocked our view of the fireworks, so we hopped in the little boat and went further south in the pond where we had a great view.

I see "Bear Mountain" on the schedule for 627. I've never been to that show...where's the best place to anchor in case for some odd reason we make it?

I have anchored right outside the channel in past years...a little back from the crowd. The explosion from the fireworks echos off the surrounding mountains. It's pretty cool!

Just north of Iona island is a good place to set the hook , head in the small cove tward the railroad bridge & don't get too close to the island .
I have found the holding good anywhere betwen Iona , and the bear mtn. bridge on the west side ok , outside the channel.
Enjoy the show ,Jon

Geeze, something like 10 years ago, we tried anchoring in shallows by the marker and broke loose. We had all sorts of anchor issues subsequently and had to give up.

It's very deep in the "cove" just north of Iona island, but that's where everyone anchors. The current can rip thru pretty fast. Keep aware and keep an eye on your holding.

When it's over, let all the lunatics leave first, then enjoy a leisurely cruise back south.

Bowdoin Park Poughkeepsie has fireworks June 28 for the Poughkeepsie Day

With all the issues I have had this year with anchors holding I am afraid to say anything.
We anchor by the bear mountain dock, right in front of the lodge to watch the fireworks every year and have had the best seat in the house. The current can and will rip thru there but alot of rode will hold you. We have even been able to raft up there with no issues in the past. But the way things have been this year we may have to drive our car instead...

Now I confused ? Bear mtn. fireworks is friday 27th and Roundout is sunday the 29th , do I got that right ?

Butch the GOV of B dock.... drive with all the landlubbers ? thats just not right . Bernadette would like to see the fireworks at bear mtn., just her and I , we have plenty of room Butch if you would like to go with us you can bring a few people with ya , after all it's omly around the corner and back, we are easy going and it would be fun to have some coampany, if your interested your more than welcome Gov.
Now if Hogan can only get the T-storms to dissapear for awhile.
Jon.

I've got to say that the Kingston fireworks really outdid themselves this year! Early on they were a bit shaky in spots, but once they got going, it was absolutely amazing -- you almost overdosed on the concussions and colors! More than made up for the 1:30 (or there-abouts) power failure when the storm went through, and the subsequent alarm from Rosalita's when the power was restored!

They sure did have some pretty good BOOMS at the end , I thought it was great also, and the creek looked cool with all the boats starting to anchor up all over by the bridge.
parkrode 360 did you head back down sun.with 2 other boats one a sea ray with a yellow stripe and one red and white wellcraft? (that cut the channel on the way in to stony point marina)
just currious cause i noticed 2 boats were behind me the whole way and I slowed down around bear mtn. and we kinda cruised all three side by side for awhile it was kinda neat cruising like that . -Jon-

We left Catskill Sunday for Kingston -- then headed back to SPBM Monday afternoon. Saw someone had run up on the jetty, but didn't see anyone around, so I guess they just left it. Left Kingston following another person out of SPBM. Didn't see you around, but would've enjoyed joining up! River was *absolutely* flat -- was a great ride back!

Sorry i meant mon. it was nice and flat though, catch up with you on the next one mabey

So who's going out to see the Bowline fireworks tonight? We should be out there weather permitting. Then over to Croton tomorrow for a day of fun in the sun.

Yup, if the weather is decent we're going to take a run over to watch them.

We're going to make a run at it. Bringing some friends up and they have little kids too.

Where are you going to set the hook?

Some like to go into Bowline, I prefer to anchor outside. You'll get a good view from either place.
