Just thought I would get a fishing thread going for the Detroit river/Lake Erie. It is getting close to walleye running season and think it would be good to get some fish reports and good fishing spots by the local fisherman. Please feel free to ask and discuss anything pertaining to this area.

WOW....none of you crazy boaters fish in this area. Man are you missing out. The Walleye are starting to run and it is excellent fishing. Some of the most sought after fishing in the whole country!

I've gone all the way to Manitoba to fish for Walleye. Great eating fish. Do you get the doggond Pike to hit your lure right at the boat?
What a shock that is? You'll jump back when it happens.

We are trying. Got to get the boat in the water first. It will be our first time fishing that area but we have been collecting gear all winter and hearing some great stories. Any advice?

Boat goes in next weekend...A distance for us to come so will probably make it a weekend thing (in a few weeks) and stay somewhere around there. Any suggestions? When is the best time?

Thanks....

I would suggest you put in at Elizabeth Park Marina in Trenton and then head south. Just as you cross under the Grosse Ile bridge you will start to see all the boats. Just ask a few guys what they are using and where and most guys will gladly give you advice. Be prepared it is alot of fun and you should have good numbers. I have caught some 8-10 pounders already this year.

Boat not trailerable so we'll be making the trip by water. Soon now that I see your posts. 8 to 10 pd'rs! Wow, really excited now.

Relaxin.....The fishing is trul;y amazing. If you are coming all the way down this way from Harrison TWSP you might as well head to PIB for the weekend and do some drinking too. We always fish on Thursday and Friday morning and then go to PIB to talk about how the fishing went. Of course after a few pops every fish was a trophy....hahah

Well,if you insist! No sense in being all that way on not PIB. After all it would be a waist of fuel not to.

Yeah so maybe those 8 to 10 pounders really weren't so big then, huh? Did you weight them after PIB? lol
