I have a 1994 Crownline 210CCR with a VolvoPenta 7.4GL engine with about 460 hours. I have cause to believe that one of the flapper valves in the port exhaust tube has failed and needs to be replaced. Plus, it's probably time to replace the rubber sleeves as well. I have ordered a repair kit, but was told that VolvoPenta does not make replacement flapper valves for this engine any more and that it won't hurt to operate the engine without them. Any thoughts regarding running the engine with no flapper valves?
