Is anyone taking their boat down to New York Harbor for Fleet Week - May 20 - May 27th?

Is it worth the trip down there? Has anyone done this before? Since there will be so many Navy and Coast Guard ships, I'll assume I should be 100% compliant regarding safety gear and inspection items in the event of a boarding.

Is there anywhere to dock in Manhattan to go and visit the ships during visitation hours?

I would like to, but I'm hoping to be boatless by then. How close can you eally get to the ships, I assume the security on the river will be crazy.

You upgrading or getting out of boating for the moment (or altogether)?

The whole area will be a security zone. Check Local Notice to Mariners. You can easily get a transient slip on the NJ side.

Upgrading. I have 3 kids that seem to keep getting bigger and they just don't fit that well anymore. I accepted an offer this morning on the boat at a very reasonable price, but waiting to possibly close next weekend. I like the Regal 3260, Cruisers 3375 and maybe a few others that I haven't seen up close yet.
