Went to the boat yesterday to check on things and retrieve the depth sounder that died during the lighted boat parade two weeks ago. Arrived at Willow Berm around 1:00 and drove through minor standing water in the parking lot to get to my dock. Ramps were going uphill from the parking lot, and people on O dock were wading through water to get from the parking lot to their ramp. There was no power in parts of the marina, including my dock. So I opened the frig door, grabbed the sounder, and headed to West Marine in Stockton. At that time the rain had mostly stopped, but several places along Brannan Island road had water to the top of the berm, and very high wind was whipping spray across the roadway. Korths was already flooded at that time, with most of the ramps under water and displaced from their connections on the docks.

Returning from Stockton around 3:00, Willow Berm was no longer accessible without wading through water in the parking lot that was at least knee deep. Large pickups could get through slowly, but cars were not. People were paddling dinghies through the parking lot. Water was up to the clubhouse and rest rooms. I realized I forgot to shut off power to the fridge when I opened it earlier - doh! So I had some time to kill waiting for the tide to recede so I could get to my dock and turn off the fridge.

So I walked and drove around the area at high tide. There was quite a bit of emergency repair work being done to Brannan Island road along the San Joaquin, and flooding at Korths had become worse. The water never crossed the road, but the parking lots and launch ramp were under water. The other problem I saw at Korths and Delta Marina was the invasion of water hyacinth in both places. It was packed into these marinas in places that were completely clear when I drove past 2 weeks ago.

Around 5:00 I was able to drive through the water that remained at WB and get to my boat without wading. Other docks still had water at the base of the ramps, but all the power was back on.

It could have been worse with just a few inches more water - no building or boats appeared to be damaged by the flooding, just a lot of inconvenience and some stranded cars when the water was highest.

I took quite a few pictures that I'll post as time permits. Hope everyone stayed high and dry and safe.
