Yes, they did a couple years ago. You had to signup and pay either a daily or weekly charge, but it came in handy sometimes.

Actually I thought I might get stuck working tomorrow morning and was thinking maybe I can do it from the boat but I'm getting close and will keep plugging away until I get this project done... Probably going to wait for the afternoon tide though and not go early morning like originally planned, work has been crazy this week and I haven't had much sleep at all.

Unfortunately, we have other commitments and the boat will not be ready to run until tomorrow in any case. Ran into a few snags taking care of the survey issues.

At high tide the entrance depth was fine. Place was empty :(
 
JohnC if you need to be connected all the time I'd check with Verizon wireless if they have LTE service at Watch Hill. If you give me a zip code I can check. Then if their service is available I'd recommend a Samsung ULM295 or 290 USB modem and a Cradlepoint CTR35 router to convert the 700MHz LTE to WiFi on your boat. An external antenna should be used from the USB modem cables antennas and the router are all available from the 3G Store.
I have found VZW 700MHz LTE is in many places where VZW doesn't even have good 3G voice services.

Watch Hill was awesome this weekend.
Great weather.
Water was clear.
Beach was nice.
Depth going in at high tide I saw 4.2 and coming out 3.3.
Now that is under my boat, so add about 20 inches. So lowest depth is about 5' in channel.

I was shocked how empty it was but people say it was like that last year.
Guess alot of boaters never really came back after Sandy.
 
Great to see you guys and weekend turned out beautiful. I had a hard time getting myself to leave, didn't get underway till about 7:40pm. I think it got nicer and warmer as the day went on. Surprisingly there were still 15 boats on D dock when I left and most of them didn't look like they were going anywhere.

Billy, thanks for the info but generally I prefer to not be logged on when on the boat if I can help it. In 2 weeks I move my boat to Montauk for the summer where there is wifi at the marina if I do need it. I spent many years on call for work and would have to log on at all hours but now don't get called off hours. Just had a project this week with a tight deadline. I made sure to catch up on some sleep over the weekend :) I think I sleep better on the boat then at home too!
