Free Tobay Boat show tix???

Did anyone ever get those free tickets from the RO that posted he would send them to anyone??? I never got anything. Think it was a scam?
 
Not a scam, the wife and I went Saturday and the tickets were left at the will call window under my name as he promised.

He is a Surfside3/Marine max rep, was personable and very knowledgable in the marine industry and Sea Ray's line up. This was a genuine offer he put out to RO's with absolutly no strings attached.

We had great time! and if my next boat is a SR he will get my business.
 
I don't remember him saying the tix were being left at the will call window. I guess since he asked for an address, I assumed he was mailing them. Maybe I'll get there this weekend!
 
Louis, I was thinking the same thing. After I thought about it and figured it was someone in the business, I felt like it was a way of getting a prospecitve customer list. It's a fine line between his offer and being a solicitation on the board. I appreciate the fact that he offered the tix but should've been upfront about it.
 
I acquired another free ticket for the Tobay show........ I don't need it ....if anyone wants it ....let me know...
 
BJL, he also had the same offer for the Norwalk show posted in the Sea Ray forum a few weeks earlier and was upfront regarding his association with SS3/MM and he made mention of it in other postings on that board, but I guess you are correct in it being a fine line.

The address appeared to be for verifing who you were. At Norwalk the security guy radioed some one checked a list for my name and then asked for my address, and verified that, I assume to make sure it was me.

My guess is that they need to provide an address for anyone they added to the will call list.

Brad provided his cell number in case I had any issues getting in. He was very up front about who he was.

It wasn't a scam. The guy is a salesperson for Marine Max. No heavy pressure, just come take a look at his offerings...he left me tix at the will call. I appreciated the free tix...

I called and the guy seemed to be on the level. I gave him my name, address, and telephone number, and he said the tickets would be waiting for me at the will call window.
I went to the will call window and there were NO tickets waiting for me.
I don't know if it was his fault or there was a screw up at the will call window.
I just paid the money and enjoyed the show.
 
You should of had them call Surfside, happens all the time..... they are not very well organized at these shows, as you saw kids are handling this.

When this happens to me, I tell them to get it straightened out, here is my cell number any problems call me, then I walk into the show :)

It was no big deal. It only cost ten bucks a ticket and really wasn't worth the time and effort. I really enjoyed the show.
Besides, now if the guy who was giving away the tickets calls me to follow up and tries to sell me a new boat, I have an excuse to cut him off.
Free things are rarely free.
I probably wouldn't buy a boat from them anyway after everything I've heard and read about them.
I've personally had two bad experiences with them in the past few months.
The first was with the Dockmaster when I went there for a slip earlier this season, and the no ticket at the window was the second thing.
