...i'd like to ask opinions on a Freeport dock location?

Am new to the south shore and would like to know your opinion.

Thanks

I was looking for docker-reviews so to speak. How is Freeport in terms of location, security, etc.

Thanks.

Ink,
Im not really sure of what u are asking... Freeport has two public docks for Day boating only.

There right on there Miracle mile of resturants ... There is no dockmaster or security.

How secure is it .. Cant really say .. U have to lock ur boat. We have gone a few times for lunch and dinner... Never had issue ..

Hope this helps

I am inside high dried at Al Grovers. Great place for high dry folks, excellent security since the building is locked at night!

Ink,

What size boat do you have? There are many marinas in Freeport as well as many private homes on canals that rent out space.

Try this link to the New York Marine Trades Association's marina directory...

As far as location goes, Freeport is about 10 minutes to Jones Inlet, the state boat channel and renyolds channel. There are many restaurants and bars along woodcleft canal.

Automobile traffic from the Medowbrook Parkway to Woodcleft and Hudson canals can be very heavy during the afternoon rush hour.

As far as being safe, I can't answer that.

Thanks for the link!

Does anyone know where I can hire a captain for a coupla hours just to show me around the channels...?

Our boat is at Jones Inlet Marina, right on Hudson Canal. Short ride to bays, Jones Inlet, Freeport's Nautical Mile. Locked gates, very secure.
