Freeway collapse!

The 80/880/580 exchange(the maze) at the east end of the Bay Bridge has collapsed due to a tanker collision and fire. Could be a MAJOR problem.

I bet someone's gonna get in trouble in light of the earthquake retro-fit work that was supposed to be done.

I bet that driver loses his Class A license, ergo his job!

The tanker fire was so hot it melted the steel support beams, causing the collapse. But Arnold has given all of us free rides on public transportation in the bay area! If you are going to the bay area, take BART!!!!!

A friend did welding on the supports(retrofit) when they were building the maze. He said those roadway sections are hollow and filled with foam. Does a lot to lighten everything but I wonder about strength of the support beams.

And I bet the foam would melt under that hot of a fire!
