Looking to buy my first carver and wondered what I could expect in fuel use. Would like to know if anyone could tell me average GPH at cruise and at trawler speed for late 80's 32 and 36 aft cabins.

We had a great trip in our 1989 3607 Carver in 2004 from Florence Alabama to Green Cove Springs, Florida. 1540 miles in 16 days and we used 1500 gallons of fuel. We were on the hook every night so some generator time is there. I calculate that we were 1.1 to 1.2 mpg. We ran at trawler speeds at about 1850 rpm and an average of 8.5 knots. This was not on a perfectly clean bottom and the prop tune on my first haul out showed one prop slightly overpitched and one underpitched.

Hi. We have a 1988, 36 Carver aft cabin and currently boat on Lake Michigan. She has 454s with 350 hp each. The best I ever got was close to 2 miles per gallon at around 8 to 9 miles per hour at 1,300 rpm (the lake was flat). I cruise at 2,600 rpm and get 18 miles per hour and burn approx 1 gallon per mile. If I have to get off the lake quickly, I can get 30 miles an hour at 3,600 rpm, but then my gpm is under 1/2 gallon (don't tell the wife). I also have VC 17 on my bottom. Hope this helps.
