Generator

We recently purchased a 1988 2767 Santego. It did not have an onboard generator and we are hoping to purchase one. We would like to purchase one and place it onboard. Does anyone know where the generator is supposed to be placed on this boat? Also, any suggestions as to the make, model, power, etc. of a generator? Thanks.

Have you seriously priced an onboard Generator? You may get Sticker-Shock when you see how much they cost.

Depending on what you want to power toy will need at least a 4 kw unit. It will need to go in the bilge. As to brands, Westerbeke, Onan anf Kohler. My advice is to watch EBay and the For Sale Forum on BE and look for a used one. You may want to explore th possibility of a portable, such as a Honda carry on.

Having a 2757 Montego (same hull), I don't know where you'd put it. Maybe next to the port engine as in your boat, the water heater is inside the cabin under the dinette seating. I'd see if anyone still makes a 3KW as you'll need as small a footprint as lightest weight possible.
