I was working on one of our heads last night and I noticed tp stuck to the the bottom of the tank. We had just pumped it out and it appears the pump out isn't getting it all. I had done 2 rinses. Any tricks to getting one of these clean? I told the admiral she could stick something in there and stir while I pumped out but that idea wasn't received well!!

Thanks
Niles

I had one of these on my previous boat. I used Odorlos in the Sealand and a macerator that emptied into a holding tank. Never any smell. I liked the system. I eventually removed the porcelan toilet, loaded the tank with chlorox, and cleaned it thoroughly. Heavy rubber gloves and several beers are recommended.

For my RV holding tank, a guy suggested I put a bunch of ice cubes in the tank, then drive the RV for several miles. The ice "scrubs" the tank while the RV is in motion. Then I drove it to the pump out and emptied all the contents. The ice cubes were melted by then. It worked quite well!

I think the same idea would work for a boat's holding tank. After you add the ice [th], finish filling up the tank with water so the ice cubes reach the top of the tank to scrub the TP off. Are you using the kind of TP which is intended for holding tanks? If not, have your Admiral only purchase the correct type which dissolves as soon as it gets wet!

One of these helps with the flushing. Also, you can flush while you pump.

Add some calgon to the tank. It softens up the sludge a bunch.

Thanks for the replies. I had forgot about the ice cube trick. We were pumped at a different facility this weekend and all was good. Maybe the PO at our club is a little weak!!

Thanks
