I went to Gilgo yesterday with my SIL and niece. I've never seen so much seaweed in the water there before. While I don't mind it, my SIL is looking for another spot in the area where the water has less vegetation. They're here for the week for her class reunion.
Thanks for any suggestions.
 
We were at Garbage Cove just east of Gilgo...........no seaweed in the cove.
 
Never had so much seagrass at my slip and in the bay.When I finally made it to the poles.I had to kill the engines. There was about a foot high pile behind my boat. I need a rake.
 
There's a lot of eel grass in our canal and most of the canals around us. Also found a lot in the State Channel from Amityville Cut east. But like I said, we were anchored in the cove yesterday and no eel grass there.
 
At Gilgo today, almost none. You can anchor in Hemlock or Garbage cove and walk across the hwy to the ocean beach. Was at the ocean side of Hemlock yesterday - zero seaweed - stopped by Gilgo for the kids to buy hot dogs at the Gilgo Inn, and yeah, the water looked more like a really bad Chicken soup.....

Hardly any in my canal now. Friday I made it from across the bay and to the east a little back home in my dinghy without having to back down for weeds once. Seemed extra light to me. All depends on the winds and where it's piling up.
