OK, I am feeling better, but can't go outside do to respiratory complications. So I play on the computer. BTW, care to guess what Mag Hdg you would take from the GG to get there?
They had a special on the History Channel or Discovery, whoever ... about the road they built to Prudhoe Bay Oil Reserves in 1974 or so. Since this was well before I was born (pause for the laughter to die down) I was curious as to why they did not use ships in the week of summer.
So I decided to use The Capn software to plot a course from the GG. About 3400 nm. The depth in feet at Prudhoe Bay is shown to be 2-5 feet.
Tidal surge? Nope. I looked it up and there appears to be almost NO tides.
This post is surely the high point (or low) of boredom on a pretty day. They had to build roads because the water is too shallow. That said, they have a road that hops islands to a deep water (15 ft) port of sorts. Feel free to correct me if I looked at it wrong.
As Paul Harvey used to say, "Now you know the rest of the story of why they built the Kamikaze Trail."
