Anybody know of any nice spots on the N Chesapeake to tube/water ski? Somewhere where I'm not disturbing anchored boats, not in a channel with vessel traffic, and not out on the open bay where it's to choppy. Boat is kept on the Sassafras, the closer the better.

thanks,
Andy

Andy,

Go to the east side of the 213 drawbridge on the Sassy. Lots of open water and very little boat traffic. You can also go to back creek, behind Knights Island although there are often boats anchored in spots there that you will want to avoid.

That's one I hadn't thought of. Any idea what the clearance is on the bridge, or opening schedule? We tubed in the river today, between the lloyd creek entrance, and the mouth of the bay - which was ok for tubing, but a little choppy for skiing.

The bridge opens on demand. Clearance is extremely limited when its closed.

Andy,
you might want to try the Susquahanna river up near the rt 95 bridge. Not too much boat traffic and plenty of water. Also, unless it is a very windy day the water stays fairly flat. That is where they hold the hydroplane races on Labor Day weekend.
