Governor Seeks To Take Water Bond Off Ballot

Good news in a way, but I'd kind of rather see it die in a public vote in November than survive in a vote two years later. But I doubt we'll have our fiscal house in order enough in two years for the public to swallow this horse pill.

I think he knows that it will never pass given the sorry state of the California budget. The fact that our budget is such a mess and shows no hope of ever making a recovery may very well table this measure forever.

Maybe our socialist state government has it merits after all. Because with it in place, there will never be money to afford this white elephant.

Yes, Charlie, the Gubernator floated this in the first place. Since he knows it doesn't have a snowball's chance in h&ll of passing, he'd rather withdraw it then have a black mark on his record. Also, he is passing the buck to the next governor.....who will also be in the back pocket of Westlands Water District via campaign contributions........ <sigh>

According to the SF Chronicle he needs 2/3 of the legislature to vote to postpone or withdrawl his $10B water bond initative, if he can't get them to postpone or withdrawl it then us little people will get a chance to vote on his $10B water bond initative this fall. I am looking forward to watching him and his party try to get the votes in the legislature and at the ballot box; I will be working on the other side.

I think with the terrible state of the Budget, getting a 2/3 vote will be a slam-dunk. Save your energies, DD, for the REAL fight.......stopping the diversion of more water away from the Delta!

When I was at Bethel Island last weekend, it was so nice to see so much water in the water! The difference between high and low tide was maybe 18 inches. I've never seen that in the end of June before. Since this was a "normal" water year, it occurred to me that it would be like that all summer long w/o water diversions.....
