Good news. Sign in window says "Now hiring". Supposed to be reopening this month. Not sure who is running but will be nice to have another alternative.

Rich, yes, a couple of months back I read that they found someone to lease and run the place. I hope the menu, food and service is up to what the prior operators provided. It was always one of our favorites. As a side issue, since the "family" left the Granary and started operating the Kitty Knight House we visited Kitty Knight twice.... we are not impressed and not likely to dine there going forward.

Yea! I hope the food and service is up to expectations and worth the nearly 2 year wait. First one to dine there needs to report back to us!

While visiting up there the other week I went to Schaffer's on the Canal. Not bad and not too pricy outside on the deck. Didn't have their typical fare (surf and turf) and don't really know what they offer for the higher end fare. Good atmosphere for the middle of the week. Even had a 167'er come in and dock for the night.
On a side note, we're leaving SW FL behind and coming back. Keeping the house in FL for vaca's but had an offer back in the cold that I couldn't turn down.
Cheers!

Ok, so here's the update. Went Friday night and got there about 9:15. Went to the bar and ordered an appetizer. The crab nachos are good but could use salsa. Then decided to order a meal and split it. Never showed up. After the person who arrived after us got his food we gave up around 10:15 and were leaving. They then brought out from kitchen. Too late. So we went back Saturday to have dinner. Got a great table in the dining room overlooking the water just pre sunset. Bad news was next to party of 12. No service for 15-20 minutes, although table next door had 4-6 servers. No kidding. Finally got waitress' attention and ordered. Took a while but seafood boullibase was good. Chicken with crab stuffed pepper was ok. Pepper good, almost a full crab cake inside. Chicken just kind of a piece on plate. GM came over and apologized for service and said drinks were on them. they still ended up on bill. So too early to tell. Menu is more limited than before. Prices are ok. Service needs work, but it was first weekend. Like that they offer half portions of most main dishes, so if don't want to share you don't have to get too much or pay full price. We'll go back to give them more chances and hope the kinks get worked out.

Rich, thanks for the report. Sounds like early start-up growing pains. I guess we'll wait a few weeks before trying them.

BTW, Wing Night at Galena was last Saturday night. It was also our 39 wedding anniversary so I spared no expense and took the Admiral, too! :) The wings, coleslaw, fries, pitchers of beer, etc were great!

Well, we were there at the same time. We had a table on the port side near the back. 8 adults and one kid. Next time we need to coordinate!
