Just a heads up for anyone lucky enough to find themselves along the gulf coast and a little bit of free time. Right now the bite is HOT and equipment needed is simple. Pompano and whiting are red hot, with spanish, reds, big uglies, sheephead, and a host of others being caught. A simple pompano rig ( 2 drop loops, a pyramid weight, 2 #2 circle hooks, a piece shrimp, sand flea, ghost shrimp, fishbites or fishgum) and your ready to hook 'em!

this thread is worthless without pictures <G>

Go fishing, post some, stop the whine. <Bigger Grin>

Black Drum (local name) we catch big-un's but they are wormy.

Wormy all year long, or just towards the end of the summer like speckled trout down there can get?

I think the big ones stay wormy. I tried one once in Feb. and it had active worm pockets. Now I only eat ones under 4 lbs.
