What a great weekend this was.
The fog came in on Friday night and we were going to go to Sam's but ended up going to Scott's in Oakland instead. Started to head to Sam's and changed course after about 10 minutes of a boat buzzing circles around us in the fog. The fog was thick and I was tracking him on radar. I would let him go by and then resume course and then he would circle back around in front of me. Never did see him but saw his wakes several times. After about two rounds of this we proceeded out of the fog and headed toward Oakland. It was nice and clear further into the Bay and we had a nice night and great dinner before heading back to SF enjoying the view of the skyline. It was really odd with the boat in the fog, not sure if it was a coast guard boat that didn't want us crossing the bay in the fog. While we were in the fog we also saw a wind surfer about 3/4 mile into the bay. The visibility was only about 1/8 mile I couldn't believe he was out there.
Saturday was nice and we spent most of the day on Angel Island. Really nice afternoon and the kids had a great time hiking around the island. Had alot of wind crossing the bay back to SF with about 5 to 6 foot wind waves.
Sunday was the best day. Very little wind, we headed out the Gate in the morning about 5 miles. Saw alot of porpus, seals and birds along with a number of large ships coming into the Bay. It was nice and warm and not to rough with no fog. We then headed to Angel Island again and docked had lunch and relaxed for several hours there. It was nice and warm. Our timing was great for leaving the dock as a 35 foot power boat docked across from us and were having quite the party. That would have been fine as well as the loud music except for the choice of music which was some sort of rap with every other word a nice four letter one. We had a lot of kids with us this day and I was surprised the rangers didn't have a word with them. Maybe they did after we left. It was a great trip back to SF across the bay with only small wind waves. We even saw some porpous off Alcatraz on the way home. The kids had a great time.
Today was also great. We stayed on the dock, relaxed, cleaned the boat and then headed home early afternoon.
It is always great to have such a great time on the water with friends and to live in such a great place.
Hope everyone else enjoyed the weekend.
