Green Flies in the lindenhurst cut and SBC 5mph west of the cut

Is there any known solution to keep them away....

A couple of good fly swatters. Sounds stupid, but it's the only thing I know that works.

Although I have tried a bunch of products, I still haven't found anything that works on them.

We used to hang old fashioned fly paper in the cockpit. Wasn't pretty but it did help lessen how many got us!

We place an Off Insect coil on the floor of the cockpit . It works pretty good for us. Light one up before we head into the cut. Also there was a product called Greenhead Insect Repellant that worked well. But it seems that it is no longer available.

I got an electric fly swatter, its impractical to use, I can only get them when they are on the bimini so to bounce them onto the grid, it is satifying to see them fry, but its alot of work to dispatch 100 flys that way...

I use Deep Woods Off aerosol. When the flies show up in the cut I douse myself with it. Keeps them away for long enough. It seems, though, that with the repellents you apply to the skin, their effectiveness depends as much on individual body chemistry as anything else. What works for one person doesn't work for the next, and vise versa.

I also second the Off Mosquito coils- we use them at rest. They keep pretty much everything away from the boat.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Avon's Skin-so-soft spray. Before the spray it was so greasy I preferred the Green Heads.
