(with help from others of course) This months addition of the Bay and Delta Yachtsman made mention of Hal Schell's last book that he started prior to his death. A group of people got together and finished and published it, The California Delta.

I received my book and read it today. I have to say I am not a critic so my feeling may be not universal. I was a good friend of Hal's and he even put a picture of my wedding in the Delta in his last book. This latest iteration is a stand alone reference book, not a true Hal book. His writing was far more entertaining and he created a story with personal interest in his ramblings. This book lack any kind of personalization of the delta and its people and environs.

True. I remember when Hal was pleading for folks to submit old pictures of the Delta, he said he was working on a "pictorial" of the Delta, which this book became. I wonder if he even intended to have much of his ramblings in the book? I guess only he knows for sure! The old pictures are very interesting to me.......
