Great news: Joe and Kim have opened up at Riverboat Restaurant and, as of last weekend, have started serving their famous weekend specials of Fri Rib-eye steak and Lobster tail and Sat Prime Rib Dinners.

As usual, the dinners were exceptional and the price, $19.99, is unbeatable. This is going to be a great summer with the best Delta food at my marina, but I think I just shot my diet! Oh well, there's always next year.

Joe and Kim will continue to run Happy Harbor, but HH's focus will be on pizza, burgers and sandwiches. The full course meals will be served at Riverboat.

Here's a copy from today's Delta Scuttlebutt Email Newsletter

There is big news on the Delta Loop.

Joe & Kim Felix (owners of Happy Harbor) have leased Moore's Riverboat Restaurant and are ready to kick up some fun. They had a special "soft" opening last Wednesday night where they served some of their delicious food. I had Malibu Shrimp which was SUPER! Come out to Moore's and say hello to Joe & Kim.

Did you notice if Riverboat will still have burgers/sandwiches etc. on the lunch menu? That Ribeye looks good, but is a little more than I'd like for lunch.

etyppo, yes, same lunch menu as before, including burgers, salads and sandwiches. I'm not sure what their plans for the menus are, though. The Ribeye/Lobster and Prime Rib specials are dinner only, I believe.

Liz, same low special prices...$19.99.

Well, I hope they can keep the place open for more than a year like most of the other operators...

God I miss the original Riverboat. It's never been the same since the old Catfish Cafe was put in its place...

Best of luck to them!

In my opinion, that has been the downfall of each and every "owner" since the original family started leasing it out.

There have been (so-called) chef's from SF and other culinary "experts" that have come and gone like the tide with their "specials of the day".

But all that most of us River Rats want is a nice place to (casually) eat a nice meal at.

Nothing fancy and no reservations.

But hey, that is just me... (a regular at the place since the early 70's)

I still miss the original Lighthouse when Sal used to run it. Fancy joints just don't fit in with the Delta scene. Being seated at a table while wearing a tank top and jap flaps just doesn't seem right.

The Sugar Barge's Restaurant is another example. IMHO, Delta restaurants need to be treated as a service to the marina customers, not as a profit center. Overhear is too high, income to unpredictable. They are a great tax write-off though!

Now that's funny!

Do you do stand-up at the SJYC on your days off too???

You'll really hate it now. While they still call themselves The Lighthouse, they are not even associated with the resort. Nor are they anything like any version of the Lighthouse that you fondly remember. They are now a Mexican restaurant. And they don't really make much of an effort to let the public know this. Food is OK, but certainly not worth the cost that you get on your non-itemized bill.

This practice may be normal in Tijuana, but we'll see how long it lasts in The Delta. I know they won't be getting my business.

^^^^^^^

Yeah, a few weeks ago, we took our motorhome to Lighthouse Resort for the weekend.

We walked up to the restaurant, took one look at the place and decided to go back to our campsite and BBQ dinner instead of eat there.

I'd be willing to bet they won't last the year...

We haven't been to the Lighthouse since last summer. Based on the latest comments, no reason to go back. We will try the Riverboat.
