Thinking of planning an overnight boat trip to treasure island. What is there to do once you get there? Are there any good bars/restaurants to speak of??

We have stayed in Clipper Cove in front of the marina on T.I. numerous times over the years. It offers great protection from the wind and despite the bridge being overhead, there is very little noise.

I have not been on shore lately, but the last time that we were there, there weren't any restaurants.

Pier 39 or the Oakland/Alameda Estuary are only a hop, skip and a jump from T.I. Plenty of eating opportunities there...

Roger that. So it sounds like a nice place to break out the grill, bring a nice book and relax...

Ok cool..the plan is my wife and I will probably go to TI on a Saturday..grill some steaks on the magma, bring a movie read books..on Sunday we can pick up some friends from Oakland estuary and then boat across to Sams Anchor Cafe..drop them off and then head home.

Is Clipper Cove and anchorage or a marina? I dont have a generator yet so I'm hoping for a place with shore power.

Sounds like a plan!

Clipper Cove is a cove where you can anchor out. There is a marina that has been under renovation for quite some time right there within view of the cove.

If you have a dinghy, you can go over to the beach and have some fun too!

They used to allow overnighters for a small fee. The name of the place is Treasure Isle Marina. I'm sure they are listed or try a search for their number.

Have fun!

We've been enjoying Clipper Cove since the early 80's when T.I was still operational

One time we had engine trouble as we approached the Cove, so I tied up to the docks while I figured out what was wrong. We were quickly greeted by MP's with M-16's! [:-shake]

After a quick explanation of why we were there, they told us to complete our business and move along. Needless to say, we complied! :D

You won't have those worries today though...

Enjoy!

One more thing... Just a heads-up!

With the constuction going on with the bridge, you might want to pay close attention to the numerous barges and mooring cables in the area.

Plus at any moment, those piling driver things or other heavy equipment might start working and you will be subject to their related noise all day long.

We haven't been on the hook there in over a year, so just be forwarned of the work in progress...
