I think I may have been doing too good of a job promoting the marina I'm not sure they have any slips left for next year:)

I hope they remember to send out my commission check:)

It a fun place a great dock and I have made a bunch of new friends what more can I ask.

There's a couple left on Green dock. In fact, my old slip is available. And I know you guys have one spot open near you. I know you hope nobody takes it too because then everyone would have to find somewhere else to tie up their dinks!

Welcome home.

I believe they have all been filled for next year. I had invited a few people to check out my new home and I guess they told two friends and so on:)

Yes, there are a few of coming over next season.
We already have our slip numbers if we don't request a slip change.
No one promoted the Marina, we all had our personal reasons.
Yes Dave I'll be right behind you.

Sorry no check
See you next season

I'm just teasing being Hogan accused me of being on commission every time I hyped the marina:) The truth is I like it there and welcome your group I'm sure you will enjoy it as well!

I love Haverstraw, spent 12 years there. I have always known them to accept money. It was not their MO to pay out very often. Owned by a consortium of lawyers, and always a business first and a friendly family place second.

Pete one can dream:) The truth is they have been very generous and accommodating in every way from pulling a piling that was in my way to making sure I felt welcome in our new marina. They called to invite us to the fall party even though we weren't really members yet they felt it would be nice for us to get to know people. What more could I ask for?

Yes I know it could be cheaper but what couldn't be when it comes to boating?

From boating in this area for some 30 years, one thing has always been true: you get what you pay for, so its time to pay a little more and get a toilet that flushes near the pool.
O yes deep water

Deep water is key! I haven't even looked at a tide chart this year:) I come and go as and when I please!

10 years at Haverstraw! Deep water is awesome! But agree with what Pete said. Still, we never got involved in the tit for tat that often went around there. We hung out mostly with the sailboat crowd which oddly is where our personalities seem to fit in best. The biggest drawback by far was the sheer enormity of it. Often had to park at the back of the lot near surfside 3. Slip was at the end of green dock north close to the fuel dock. The hike got real old especially in the heat/humidity & carrying a lot of stuff to/from the boat. And some of the transient parties!! I guess if your really into partying yourself that would be a plus cause they were usually very nice people. But if your trying to unwind from a stressful job, just want to hang out & read a book, work or just sit on the boat with friends for a quiet evening...sometimes a challenge. All in all a good place, just peoples needs change & it is well known that the Haverstraw move is a very good one for you SPBM folk, it's probably helping keep Haverstraw a float too!

The people on our present dock are our extended family. We have grown together through the years. This is the hardest part, some are coming some are staying. In many ways I'm not happy about this move.
We all have our personal reasons. Our present Marina has been great through the years, perfect for us, however recent changes in the Marine is forcing us to change. Simple things like clean pool, pool open when it should be, hell my kids and others contraced an infection from the pool at one point. My kids are my largest concern, they have and grown up with all their friends and that is tough for me. It is my hope, that they will keep their present friends and make new ones as well. When the kids are happy so are the parents. Change is good sometimes. Deep water is a plus, being able to come and go when we want. If something is in need of repair, they do it, there are no homeless wondering around, the list goes on and on.

Yes, i understand. Leaving Haverstraw was hard for me. We were extremely close to some of the people there. I am a bit familiar with SPBM through the Coast Guard Aux & wintering there back in the Gene days. I used to love the spring when I would get to hang out there for weeks prepping my boat & socializing with the marina people. Real nice group you had there. Leaving Haverstraw was hard but the smaller family atmosphere of Penny Bridge was a strong draw for me..& wood docks!! Since I purchased my boat there, they continued to service it & I already knew some of the people at PB,the move was a no brainer & I'm glad I did it. Of course I rarely see my boat these days....but...

I’ve been enjoying Haverstraw Marina for 24 years. I’ve never found the “tit for tat” that other local marinas claim we have. One of the reasons why I love boating so much is the people I meet in the boating community. In my opinion, there is nothing better than a fellow boater.

No marina is perfect, the secret is finding one that has what you need/want, and that you are happy to spend time at.

Actually the "tit for tat" I spoke of was not.among boaters
rather some boaters griping about management. As Pete stated
It is a business first & we always felt that was a no brainer. We had
no issues with the office/management or their rules & policies.
Actually just the opposite. Bob Wheeler & the office staff were always
great to us & we still go there often.
The ONLY reason we left was the desire for a smaller marina and after 4
years of Pennybridge I still get a kick out of pulling up in a parking spot
and seeing my boat right there!
Some people do have a preconceived notion about Haverstraw. I don't know
why. Some of the nicest people i know i met there, i never encountered the
"snootyness" or cliques i was warned about, we still keep in touch
with many of them & we still sail with them too.

Always be careful of taking sides in a dockside argument. The two combatants will be friends tomorrow and will be telling one another what you said or didn't say about each other.

This is a life lesson and applies everywhere! I try my best to stay out of arguments whenever possible.

I was warned about the clientele at Haverstraw before I got there and frankly I think the warning were unfounded! I have meet many people there I have found all to be friendly. I don't expect to be friends with everyone nor would I want to be I don't have that much time it's hard enough leaving and saying goodbye to everyone:) I have not had too many days where I found the parking to be all that bad this weekend was packed unusually so, this said with all the new members headed our way the parking may get worse.

Everyone knows what they are looking for in a marina this much like boats themselves will be different for everyone. I'm happy here others may not be.

I know I have been hyping the marina since I got here and maybe it's because of all the naysayers from before I good here (not here on the forum) and I want others to know don't believe everything you hear or read! I look forward to continuing to make new friends and welcome all the new members to the marina/dock!

I couldn't agree more. I was at SPBM for 15 years and have nothing bad to say about it. I met a lot of great people there over the years and had reservations about leaving. I always heard the rumors about Haverstraw and I can absolutely say they are not true. I have met nothing but a bunch of great people and could not be happier.

Wayne,
You are going to Haverstraw? No way, I just cannot believe this. And you have been docked next to me for how many years? Shocking, positively shocking!

Hank,
Your vessel looks much better stern in! :D
