Yes We're about 600' off of the ICW. If you head north you get to see beautiful homes and have access to a number of restaraunts, and the Ocean in North Myrtle Beach. The drawback is the ICW through this area is a man made ditch, and that's exactly what you feel like your traveling in. If you turn south you are on the Waccamaw River, which is nature at it's best all the way down to Georgetown,(about 25 miles), where you can access the Ocean through Winyah Bay. You constantly see herrings, ospreys, eagles and an occasional alligator. You can also head north up the Waccamaw into Conway which is a real nice ride with a beautiful little town at the end.
The marina is wonderful, the staff is helpful and friendly, and we get to park our truck about 30' from our boat. I have good water depths albiet 6' but that is good for the area, and we stay in year round.
Right now the weather is in the 30's during the day and 20's during the night. I leave the heater in the boat set at 50 and that keeps everything dry. The water temp is in the 50's and having fresh water cooled engines I have little to worry about,(I hope!!).
The marina charges by the month, and my yearly fees are less than summer and winter storage in NY, nevermind winterizing and shrink-wrapping. A nice feature is that the marina does not nickle and dime you. You pay for the slip and electric and thats it!! If I want my boat pulled every two months so I can clean the bottom, it's done at no charge. Also when I wash my boat it stays clean for weeks, no little black dust from the gypsum plant.
All said, it's been a real good move that we haven't regretted at all.
