Looks like everyone else is either going elsewhere or being hauled.

However weather permitting, we are still planning to come up to Haverstraw on Friday.

Looking forward to meeting anyone around.

We may be moving the boat over to Haverstraw that weekend if they know what slip we will be wintering in.

I have never considered staying in for the Winter is there a big difference in price? What other expenses are there and pros and cons. Somehow it scares my that something could go wrong and sink the boat.

Unless you have a customer cradle that is made for the hull, the larger boats are better off floating instead of laying up on blocks and jack stands all winter. If you are winterized properly, covered and have bubblers I don't see any more risk than in the summer.

Do you leave the power plugged in to kept the batteries charged so the bilge pumps don't drain the batteries? and maybe an ER heater as long as there is power? What other things to you do differently as far as winterizing. What about the cost is it about the same?

10+ Tons of fiberglass/engines/etc resting on 4 to 6 points is not my idea of what's best for a boat Wayne. The flexibility of wintering in the water is also nice. No waiting on others to get you in or out of your season.

Sorry to say we are cancelling our trip up this weekend.

Marine forecast doesn't look great and rain on Saturday.

We want to make the trip up so maybe earlier in the season next year. Lately you can't count on anything in the fall.

I was looking at the forecast earlier today Mark and wondering if you were going to go. Funny thing is I've done 3 Hudson River trips over the past few years during the summer and everytime at least a couple people ask me "why are you going now and not in the fall when the leaves change?" My reply always is that a fall trip sounds nice but it's a long run and more than likely it's going to be cold and windy and not that pleasant a trip, much nicer in the warmer weather!

Too bad you couldn't have today's weather on the weekend... Went out fishing with a friend today, it was beautiful out and as many boats fishing in the inlet as on a weekend. Must have been a lot of people taking off when they saw the forecast!

John

Sorry the weather didn't cooperate, Mark. I was looking forward to meeting you and touring your boat.

Maybe next year...

A 30 percent chance of rain is still a 70 percent chance of a good time? There is a 100% chance of rain on Sat. but Fri. and Sun. look good don't they?

Friday...55 and cloudy...
Not feeling well today. May have to stay here on boat and recoup....
