According to the show "Fox News Sunday", there is a special deal in today's HC Bill which provides water for the "drought Ravaged" California Central Valley! I bet that water goes through Westlands and gets resold for billions of dollars!

This makes me sick!

I don't believe anything Fox says without substantiation. Please provide some facts to back up this accusation.

It's normal for Interior and DWR to adjust water contract deliveries at this time of year, dependent upon current water projections for the season.

Before FOX NEWS star Sean Hannity produced his hit piece on the Delta Smelt last fall his producers worked with the pro-canal California Water Alliance to organize the programs.

The claim that Obama administration exchanged water contracts for health reform votes is a conspiracy theory promoted by two conservative Republican camps: the California pro-canal/water investment Republicans and the anti-health reform Republicans. Both groups have a propaganda organ in FOX NEWS.

It's just another Republican smear campaign and more tin foil hat stuff.

The lie is debunked here:

Well, it may be a lie, but it was also mentioned by the ABC Show "This Week". ABC is definitely NOT a conservative media outlet.

This Week on ABC? LOL, George Will fired this off during the last seconds of the round table. Will didn't provide any basis for the accusation, avoided giving any names or specifics, and no one responded. This is the only mention of this topic on the entire program.

"WILL: And, second, haven't we found a way in the last three or four weeks to lower this approval? Now, I understand politics is a transactional business, but some of the transactions in this -- are you at all embarrassed about water suddenly being released to the California valley because of health care?"

This is stupid. Water contract allocations can and do get changed any time between now and June as the water survey develops for the season. Chances are there will be further adjustments made before July.

Almost correct Flutter. CA got 25% of a water provision.

Again, Feds and CA issue revised water allocations any time between now and July, sometimes monthly as the water season develops.

I challenge you or anyone else to prove otherwise. I also challenge you to provide names and evidence supporting your conspiracy theory regarding a quid pro quo water for votes deal.

From the Wall Street Journal:

"As for those who needed more persuasion: California Rep. Jim Costa bragged publicly that during his meeting in the Oval Office, he'd demanded the administration increase water to his Central Valley district. On Tuesday, Interior pushed up its announcement, giving the Central Valley farmers 25% of water supplies, rather than the expected 5% allocation. Mr. Costa, who denies there was a quid pro quo, on Saturday said he'd flip to a yes."

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703775504575136133814210008.html

After the truckload of incentives that was backed up to the Nebraska stateline to get the Nebraska senator to sign on earlier, is it really hard to believe that a water allocation wasn't used as bait to swing votes from Valley Congressmen?

Republicans were attacking Jim Costa earlier this month claiming he voted along Democratic party lines 96% of the time. That doesn't sound like a blue dog to me. Costa voted for the earlier House health care bill last fall. I don't see the grounds for anyone saying that Costa "flipped" his vote.

If he was invited to the Oval Office, Obama's people considered him a person who needed persuading. Maybe he was just "playing Obama".........

Though ABC may not be right wing George Wills is defnitely a reight wong idealogue. A more articulate version of Hannity. He doesn't use rational thought or reason. Just hyperbolic rants about health reform meaning the end of the U.S. Or disenguous concerns about the national debt. How LNG have we had this debt? Didn't the debt double under Bush? Where was the tea party movement then?

Obama did what no President has done before him. He did not pass the buck on health reform. He took the big issue and did something about it

If spending 940 Billion dollars in the next ten years helps to balance the budget.... I mean I am not a math major, and although the math is a little fuzzy to me, seems like a great idea, but I have no time for that right now....

I am going to go charge a new BMW on my credit card and convince the lil' lady at home it will balance our budget. It makes sense, just look at the math, by having more expenses without additional revenue you break even or even get on the positive side, don't you? Well, it works for the government, why not us? 2-3=4

Check out the new BMW 6 Series.... Screw it, I do not need to be able to afford it to have it, I just hope the Socialists let me drive it....

You don't understand so let me enlighten you. Both dems and even the vile republicans agree that healthcare costs are rising at such a rate that if we do nothjg we will spend a lot more than 950 billion over the next 10 years. Using your analogy you can spend thousands of dollars every year fixing your car or you can buy a brand new BMW that costs up front but over the long term saves you money because you don't have ever increasing maintenance costs. Healthcare is a broken system and I applaud Obama for doing something to fix it. The republicans were in power but they did a horrible job which is why voters kicked them out. Now dems are actually doing something about this bRuins problems.

Wayne, I agree with you, the Republicans did nothing about health care, perhaps because they had something about terrorism on their mind? However, when the topic was raised by Obama, the Republicans put forth many ideas which truly address the cost of health care; none of these are in the final bill. So the cost of health care will NOT be reduced by Obamacare; it will just be changed. It is sort of a shell game which will change the landscape of health care in the USA for many generations. It gives more control to government which, IMHO, is not a good thing.

It went right over your head. The BMW analogy was satire. But what is scary is that you actually took it seriously.

It's no wonder that foreclosures are at all time high and so many people including the government are broke.

Spending more money when you are broke is not going to balance the budget. Republicans did a bad job with the deficit and got voted out because of it, but spending even more will compound the problem.

The majority of the people are against Obamascare for a very good reason. We simply can't afford it right now. So where will that leave the Democrats in November?

You are right that Republicans had terrorism on their minds. They failed to protect the country on 9/11 and allowed us to get attacked. They let Osama Bin Laden run free and they attacked a country that was not an imminent threat nor responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

Now your using that as an excuse for not tackling a 60 year growing problem. They passed the buck on healthcare, immigration, the national debt and other issues. They didnt bring the wars to conclusion either. I guess you can call Republican rule a disaster. They left the budget, national debt, job market in total shambles making Obamas total presidency a clean up job of the Republican mess they left behind.

Now you say the cost of healthcare will not be reduced. Hmm..should I trust YOU or the non partisan CBO (Congressional Budget Office) which is trusted by both parties. What analysis have you done to determine that Obamacare wont reduce costs? Is that just a gut feeling? I know the CBO read the bill and did extensive analysis. Im going to go out on a limb and guess that you did not do the same. Its not good to make baseless claims in a debate. Back up your claims with something other than your gut. I think Obamacare will reduce costs..my source? the CBO...YOu think it wont..who is your source?

Finally, FREE MARKET FORCES have allowed healthcare costs to run wild..if the free market did such a good job the government wouldnt have to pass a law telling insurance companies you cant kick people off coverage when they become deathly ill just to save money to please your investors.

Also you say the Republicans had ideas that Obama didnt listen to..are you sure about that??? The final healthcare bill contains 200 amendments that were put forth by Repubicans. The overall bill is very similar to the healthcare bill proposed by Republican Bob Dole in the 90s as an alternative to Clintons plan. Facts are stubborn. Make sure you know the facts before you make claims like Obama took zero Republican ideas..simply not true.

You say a majority of Americans are against Obama care...Are you sure? Latest Gallup poll shows 49% approve, 40% oppose. See link below. Also,,if you run your household into debt it takes money to get out of debt...Run up your credit cards and then stop paying the bill wont get you out of debt. The Recovery act has helped the economy recover. Many economists say the recession is over. http://www.examiner.com/x-15870-Populist-Examiner~y2010m3d24-Gallup-poll-Americans-actually-like-health-care-reform

Wayne, did you read the second half of your link? It pretty much contradicts your point. It's only one poll and hardly a mandate at that.
