My wife and I took a boating safety class back in 2011 with the Coast Guard Auxiliary at the Unqua Corinthian Yacht Club in Amityville. Does anyone know which flotilla held classes there?

We cannot find our cards or certificates and I do not remember which flotilla held the class. I tried contacting the Lindenhurst and Amityville flotillas but they said it wasn't them.

My next step is to start calling other local flotillas, but I thought I would check here first.

I just want to make sure I have my card handy once the new law in Suffolk takes effect.

Thanks,

Not sure if it works the same in NY, but My wife and I took a seamanship class from the CG Aux almost 20 years ago. They turned over all the names of people passing the classroom to the VA Dept. of Game and Inland Fisheries. All I had to do a couple of years ago was to call the Dept. and they sent me my license.

I sent an email to a guy who might be able to help. Please update this thread if you get your answer so I can call off the hunt.
cwms - YES, in FL if the student has the Course Date, the FWCC will issue a replacement card.

J-D,

So far I've had no luck. If it helps, the classes were April 16, 17, 23, and 24 of 2011.

Thanks!

Brian, check your options in BE and see if you can "send email." If you can, please email me the date and location info in this thread along with both your full names. I didn't get a response from yesterday's email so I shall Escalate. I'm a flotilla pubic education officer and it's important to answer inquiries promptly. Even the ones I can't help with...

Received your message, will work on it today.

Hi Brian,

Good idea to have your certificate handy while boating this long weekend.

Was it Flotilla 12 that you contacted?

It's located in Amityville, so I thought it might be the one.

If you don't have any luck with the flotilla, I would suggest caling the USCG Aux Citizen Line: 1 (877) 875-6296.

Hope that helps!

Brent,

Flotilla 12 was one of the first ones I contacted but they said they never held classes at that location. I will definitely try calling the number you posted.

Thanks for the help!

Brian and I spoke last night. I got an email from the AUX Division Commander this morning. We're working it!

Brian, PM sent which I believe has the info you need.

Ron,

I just checked the PM and that is exactly who JD identified over the weekend. To anyone interested, it looks like it was Flotilla 1-5.

Thanks again to JD and Ron for verifying it.
