Well I tried to go fishing yesterday and made it about 4 minutes out of the marina on my way to Croton and the other Gimbal bearing (That was replaced when the other failed) went bye bye, The engine shut down. Restarted it and it just growls shakes and stinks just like the other engine did coming home from Kingston when it went. Its back over at Belle Harbor waiting for Jimmy to fix it AGAIN.

I hope it makes it through the storm on their service dock.

I am not happy with Volvo Penta right now. I always owned Mercruisers and NEVER had a problem like this. The boat is only 2 years old too.

Alignment? Motor mounts? You might want to have them measure the distance between props in two positions to see if they are the same, center to center. Has to be super frustrating.....

Could it be they only charged you to replace the second gimbal? Hate to be negative but not all repair places are honest. (Have had ZERO dealings with Belle Harbor and have nothing to base anything on, just a gut feeling)

George is dead-on . . . Make sure the PROBLEM is found, 'cuz it sounds like failure of the gimbal b earing sound like a SYMPTOM.

$0.02.

The whole thing stinks. Who can you trust to fix anything really. I am glad again my family was not on board when it happened. Even if this boat gets fixed I am done with it. Too scared to drive it now. I keep thinking about last summers trip to the shore and we were in 5-7 footers. If it happened there it would have been very bad.

Look for the for sale signs shortly. It has 4 years of warranty on it left.

Rob, That really sucks.. On the positive note.. At least this has happened early in the season so you shouldn't miss any of the "Good Weather" we are hoping for...

Sell that Thing...you are due for a bigger boat anyway...

Nah - If I sell it I am out.

Good Weather? Are you kidding - the way mechanics work I will be lucky to see Labor day.

Rob, have you thought of calling Volvo? From what I've heard from South Jersey, they're pretty responsive to customer complaints.

Edit: Especially if you have a Rinker, since that was a company they courted to carry their propulsion units.

Nope - Not at all.

I just heard from the mechanic. Something in the drive went. It will be at least 3 weeks. So much for Spring fishing. For Sale.

I talked to the mechanic again on Friday. (Waste of time). He is now waiting for authorization from Volvo to repair the drive. What a bunch of crap. I asked how long and it will be at least another 2 weeks if not longer. So you all will have great boating weather for a few more weeks.

I strongly suggest YOU call volvo - you're the one who's gonna brag as to 'what great customer service volvo provided' (or bad-mouth them all day long) up and down the dock . . . not your mechanic.

You absolutely should call Volvo and not get off the phone until you are 100% satisfied!

Well - Anyone know any Volvo Penta Authorized repair centers? I called Volvo - Jimmy never called them. I guess its time for a visit over there again. I will need to get a hauler again to bring ti somewhere else if I can get the drive and its so called pieces.

Rob,

If you call Volvo, I'd suggest searching out a VP or Director of Product Support / Warranty. All manufacturers have one.

In addition, you may want to seek out a VP of sales or ask for the person in charge of managing the dealership organization - again - all manufacturers with a dealer network will have someone who handles this.

Either one of these people can put the arm on the dealership to move things along.

Then you can become the squeaky wheel that gets the oil, or in this case, the squeaky drive!!

Good luck
