He may not be allowed to advertise, but I'm allowed to ask, right???

I was just wondering - can you send me a PM or email so I can put it on the list of future places to visit :) ???

Post the information here. I'm always looking for a good B&B. Hell, our entire marina is looking for a B&B in the area. Make sure to post your weekly specials as well.

While we are at it anyone have a phone number or website of a good construction guy in the area?

Pictures of some completed work would be great as well.

Are any of you members of a xxx chapter near where you work or play? If you are a small business owner (actually just a business owner, size does "not" matter)and want to grow your business, this is a sure fire way to increase your sales. Whether you are looking for a B & B or a general contractor, through xxx you get preferred referrals. You could even get someone to clean and wax your boat through a cross chapter referral. Check it out....G

George, I think the above responses are sort of 'tongue-in-cheek' posts regarding the (prematurely) locked thread pertaining to commercial promotion via this board.

Also, George, do you have a website for your detailing business? Just curious?

Have fun guys!! I'll be away from the computer the rest of the day, so post whatever you want.

Happy Easter.

Thanks. Some of this is for our businesses and some is for the area.

.

Nice looking B & B. Great rates too.

How is the fall leaf viewing where you are? We like to go to Vermont for that but would stay in NY if the views are just as good. When is peak?

I am an amateur photographer always looking for a great shot.

Some of my pics from Vermont.

Leaf week is busy here. The first two years I was here was incredible. From the top of the fire tower (open to the public) you can see 360 degrees. So looking south to north allows you to see the color changes by climate.

Last year because of the steady rain and flooding, we had no color week.

Jim that is a great looking place! It looks like a lot of effort went into it given how well it shows.

Thank you.
That's the project I took two years off to do.

I am on to my next project.

Do a google on xxx xxxxxxxx.
I bought his house and we trying to aquire funding to restore it. There are medalion's on the ceilings that are 12 feet circumference and all the molding and trim are cast in place concrete. The home was abandon 25 years ago and it's in bad shape. We have someone who wants to do a restruant but that's such a shaky business. We're thinking an upscale hotel

Good luck. Many you're a glutton for punishment! Me, I think I'll stick with the condo!

Who knows what Andres Gallaragga's nickname was?

Well, the mice are off the hook today! Chris, I haven't a traditional website yet, but it is a goal for this year. I have a blog on a distributors site, but it is primarily for detailers to question and help each other.

John, I had an inkling but the stuff about BNI is very factual. Google an you will find out it is an international organization tailored to get upstart businesses off the ground. Hey, how is your retirement working out? Are you getting a good feel for the 2 day week - Friday night and Saturday!! Be looking for you on the water soon....G

George, I have no doubt that your advice was factual and beneficial. You always take the positive spin and the high road in all your posts.
Retirement IS great and if the weather ever decides to turn back to Spring, I'll be floating sometime during the week of the 16th. And I'll bet you're just itching to get your new baby into your slip too.

OK, I'm back, you've had your fun breaking the rules. I've done my editing.

Since you all don't want anything that can be construed as relating to commercial advertising, I will immediately delete any threads that contain any references to businesses, links to commercial sites, names of businesses, etc...

Oh for crying out loud, Mike...

Just for the record, I was serious in asking Jim to send me an email on his B and B. And unfortunately I didn't get to see the link before you deleted it. So, could Jim please send me an email at pbarduniasataol.com (replace "at" with the sqiggly thing) so I can find out the information...

I feel partially responsible for this mess, because of my post a couple of weeks ago looking for help with that stinking Sea Ray. As you folks recall I didn't argue with Mike deleting my post - he's the boss on this thread. Personally I disagree with his decision of course or I wouldn't have posted the message in the first place - its not like I did it just to antagonize him. IMHO as long as people realize this forum isn't a clearing house for all of our business transactions then if once in awhile certain business things get discussed on here then I don't see the harm...

Common sense would seem to dictate that conversations on here should be the same as we might have at the dock at the local marina, and obviously discussions about work sometimes take place at the dock. I don't as a rule, practice putting all my used boat inventory up on the back of my boat [:-irked] but I certainly would ask around the marina to see if anybody needs a cabin cruiser if I'm stuck with one in a special situation. Likewise our friend with the restaurant wants to tell us about the party Saturday night. I don't go to those things, but maybe it was fun and a worthwhile thing to tell his friends about here on BoaterEd. I teased him about the message being hard to understand, but not about him placing it...

So Mike, I would ask you to reconsider your intention to become so strict with the prohibition on anything remotely seen as commercial, and would ask my fellow ROs to lighten up a bit, because this is so silly...

Then again, maybe it doesn't matter - I just launched into a big tirade on NBR railing against Liberal hypocrisy regarding the Don Imus flap, so maybe I'll get thrown off this forum. <<sigh>>, perhaps its just cabin fever getting the best of us...

Mike;

You may want to consider taking the name "Henry's on the Hudson" out of the Breakfast at Peekskill" thread, for we certainly don't want him making a dollar off of us. [:-taped]

And let's not any of us recommend a restaurant or marina to any post asking for advise. We might as well lock the "Fuel Price" thread because it appears to give Haverstraw Marina an unfair advantage, and we can never state that Pennybridge has the best mechanics as that may be construed as sending business their way. And what are we going to do with poor Al Prisco? Can we never promote his business?

All of this started because we dared to comment that Randy does not use this site for any reason other than to promote his band. We are now tumbling down a very slippery slope.

Time for everyone to lighten up a little. Must be the cold snap!!

Pete & Pete: You guys both have valid points, that I considered throughout this "episode".

Be very careful what you ask for. It was more than just a "comment" about the band playing, that was made here.

So tell me, where and how do I 'draw the line'??

Pete M., I second your remarks. Things don't always have to "go by the book", but when there is an obvious amount of slack granted to posts from someone with no other participation except promotion, I think the line is clear.

Dan, how much "participation" must one have before I can give him some "slack"
