Starry night - where did you have your hinge made for your radar arch?

I came with his boat. They did a nice job you can hardly tell very cool idea if you plan to transport a bit.

Dsantos,
It was manufactured in Florida when the boat resided down there. The cost was $9,500 if memory serves me correct. Cool feature.

How many times have you used it Bob?

Does it have hydraulics for that amount, currently having mine done for under 800.00.
That's with me removing the Arch, delivering it , and providing the hinges and repainting and reinstalling.

They are cutting the arch, welding in alum plates inside both half's and affixing the hinges.
Will post completed pics, arch comes off tomorrow.

Nope, This was the information that was told to me. When I heard the price I said you must be kidding. Do you have the same arch or is it the winged arch?

Do the wings help the boat get on plane faster?

Dan I know your post was in jest. I have the "winged arch", IMHO it was a stupid design, the "wings" stick out making it a potential spot to bang your head. More importantly, they tilted the arch forward, so the radar is correctly aligned when on plane. The problem is when you are at rest and it rains, the rainwater puddles up and leaks around the canvas into the boat.

Bob, just wondering if it is worth the cost.

From experience I can say it is more than a potential place to bang your head. On both sides..... 8-)

I also agree on the water pooling thing. The new canvas I got the guy did his best to eliminate it but there is still some that leaks in. Mostly on the wet bar side.

My canvas goes under the arch so this is not an issue however on the sides were it wraps around the arch it leaks there must be a better we then the design of my canvas. As for the wings I love the way it looks I think it makes the boat stand out and look more yacht like. Considering I have never and will never trailer my boat $9500 sounds excessive not to say the work that was done wasn't worth every penny but not to me.

Dave, I wouldn't want my canvas under the arch, it cuts down on headroom and blocks the arch lights. This year, I'm going to drill a hole through the arch and insert a drain hose that hopefully will drain the water off to the side. If that doesn't work, then I'm thinking of having the arch cut and angled backward, so the water drains off onto the cockpit canvas. I will add a wedge or radar mount so that it will sit correctly when on plane.

I can't stand having water drip onto the seats and countertop.

The lights being on the outside is an issue but being short the head room it not:) Your arch angles in reverse of mine and aside from reinstalling the hardware I think you can turn the top around with four bolts if this will help in some way I'm not sure. I had to build a shim for my radar to make it level on plane.

My canvas goes under the arch and Attaches to it. The cockpit can as is separate and attaches under to. Headroom is the same as the arch. I still have leaks on the ends though.

Mike is there any way for you to install a track system on the top front part of your arch to divert the water without drilling a hole through the arch? In my picture I have a track for my back canvas, could you adapt something like this to yours on the top and help divert the water. You would need to notch part of the track out to catch the water.

I have a track in the front, the problem is that so much water pools up there, it just goes around and into the boat. I looked today, it appears the "wing" comes off the side pieces of the arch, so it could be removed and cut so it angles back. Maybe I'll try some other way to block it before drilling through it. Next winter, I'm getting it cut and angled back.

I think yours may just be installed backwards. Take a look at mine and you will see why I say this. An airplane wings leading edge is thicker and then gets thinner if you turn it around it won't fly. Not that I expect our boats to fly but at the theory that just seems wrong on your boat. If you turn around the top only the water will run towards the rear. I could be wrong but I suspect it may simply be installed backwards.

I tried looking at some pictures of your Mike but none were close enough to really see. But as Dave's is, mine has the narrow end to stern like a wing too. It doesn't stop the water running down the canvas and into the boat though. I really don't see any way around that shot of a hardtop.

Sorry Mike, didn't know it was a sore spot. That water issue is a tough issue to resolve and being tall I know what it's like to "locate" low hanging hard spots that don't move.
